China is more than a buyer. It is a builder. On the flipside of China buying land to develop, they also create jobs. Over 200,000 Americans have found a job in the last six years due to Chinese investors. 20,000 Chinese have been awarded the EB-5 immigrant investor visa. They have brought $9.5 billion into the U.S.

In connection with the Asia Society, a 112- page report by Rosen Group tells us that China’s love for housing has had a significant impact on the U.S. economy and jobs.

It is estimated that Chinese direct investment into existing U.S. commercial and residential real estate projects could total $218 billion from 2016 to 2020.

After 2020, Chinese investment in U.S. real estate could accelerate due to widening pool of Chinese investors looking to take money out of China. The wave of China investments is coming from diverse sources in China which are only a small piece of the potential investor universe.

Under construction or currently in the works, Chines-funded projects total $15 billion. Someone has to build these multi-billion to smaller-scale developments in secondary markets nationwide.
